B: The reason he's good atm is due to the prevalence of Delve in the format. Privacy statement | To be fair, Kolaghan's Command was a bit of a late bloomer. It's certainly not bad, but it's not a replacement and it requires a deck that wants more than 4 snapcasters. Discord Server | Nothing you've posted in this thread shows any conclusive signs that he has staying power. @slovakattack Can you explain then how Jace benefits from delve? ;). That draw spell just happens to be called Dig Through Time. My question becomes how is he in other formats? I've got a bunch of friends who play, and they've all said he's quite playable, and are looking for foil copies as they think that's going to continue to rise. 3 is average. Maybe it's because I'm just a scrub, but they just seem to line up rather well against common removal/creatures. Unless a deck he is a major part of grows to be a large percentage of the Modern meta soon, expect him to drop once Delve leaves standard. I actually think he's a fine card, and I know he has good application in some places. Raise Dead-style effects have traditionally not been eternal-playable, and neither are Shock, Smelt, nor Raven's Crime (8-Rack notwithstanding). TappedOut.js Blog Widget. Just no. I have proxied the deck. Terms of Use | Magic the Gathering, FNM is TM and copyright Wizards of the Coast, Inc, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. All rights reserved. As far as Legacy goes, he's not over powered, he's just good.  Flip is a bit more obvious in application than Kolaghan's Command was (especially considering that it slots right into an existing deck as opposed to promoting other decks to the big time). It's so annoying seeing everyone go on and on about how horrible and unplayable every card is the second it's spoiled. And, ever since they said that he's seen play in every format and has more than doubled in price because of the amount of play he is seeing. *searching for any example of the card being insane in modern, finding none, am still not convinced that it is insane in modern. Reviews Below: David Fanany Player since 1995 I have to say, I’m a little […] And now we all cry in a little corner in a dark room, because we didn't buy the jaces when he was 5$. One instance where Jace is useful with counter magic is in Legacy where the premier counterspell is Force of Will. Anyway, I still stand by what I said about his use in modern. He certainly doesn't justify a $40 price tag. I think that there is a reason he is not being played in modern, and its not that we're all stupid. However, I am just getting back into the swing of things and haven't payed any attention to any formats for about 6 months. If I didn't think the FNM thing was relevant, I wouldn't have added it! What took people a while to get is that while each one of those individually isn't much, having all 4 on a card and getting to choose 2 is a 2-for-1 waiting to happen, and thus amazing. There may be a few niche decks that want Jaace but in terms of card quality, Jace is completely inferior to Snappy. Initially maligned by pretty much everyone as the worst flip-planeswalker of the cycle, Jace, Vryn’s Prodigy has stepped up in a big way, shutting down those nay-saying Mage-Ring Bullys and igniting his spark to greatness. Aside from that scenario, I do not think is that hard to maneuver him to reach 4 cards in graveyard and flip him, especially post-sideboard when people board out their removal spells. With modern as my main format at this point I seriously don't get why Jace is seeing any major play honestly and I run Grixis control where he's probably at his best. Before I get bashed for not reading other threads, I have. Also, I would like some thoughts on the Origins Nissa, Thank you guys! If you find any issues or have any comments on the list or anything else, please let me know! Hey there! So yes, he deserves his price tag. Strictly worse than Snapcaster Mage though. June 15, ... so I am inclined to be ... which isn’t that hard in blue decks. But yeah, I don't think he actually topped that night either, but he's a fun guy and pulls out the jankiest shit.
